PointB, started by Mark Parrish in 1996, is an ongoing art project about systems of art making, expanded sculpture and design/build architecture. PointB is making spaces, portable habitats, and documentation of solo exploration. This large suite of projects reflects on the built environment, our use of space, tools and movement, and moments of discovery and clarity through travel and processes of exploration. The PointB motto is “facilitating situations of discovery.”

PointB Projects
- Stems from the belief that often the simplest acts of living can create the most complex pieces of art.
- By inventing a flexible platform for living and working for creative professionals constantly on the move, the project is exploring means and tools for the new nomadic lifestyle.
PointB Worklodge NY (1996-2016)
- Consisted of eight large private studio lofts housed in a former ironworks factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
- Artist founded and ran, it was a self-sustaining system for more than 1,000 lodgers to have easy and repeated access to fully equipped studios at the time of their choosing.
- One can always benefit from the energy of likeminded people working in the next studio or by getting personal introductions to numerous city sub-cultures.

PointB Global Community
- Consists of members who need to travel as part of their project-oriented, studio-based work and culturally mixed lifestyle.
- It includes artists, architects, writers, musicians, curators, designers, scientists, directors, entrepreneurs, etc.
- By welcoming creative global nomads from all fields, we encourage trans-disciplinary and cross-cultural exchanges.
Vision
The PointB vision sees a world network enriched by the collaboration between global and local creative professionals challenging and developing their processes through the transformative influences of translocation and interaction with cultures and social environments, creating possibilities for new global paradigms.
Mission
The mission of PointB is to enhance and enable the mobile lifestyles of creative professionals by providing flexible, ready-to-use work and living spaces and developing a global network for interdisciplinary, cross-cultural exchange.
